Creating a Simple PC Cleanup Tool with Batch Commands

 1. Copy and paste the script to Notepad or any text editor.

2. Save the script as diskcleantool.bat or diskcleantool.cmd.

3. Make sure to use a desktop or folder so that you can easily locate the file.

4. Right-click the file and run as administrator.

Batch Script

 @echo off
echo Cleaning system junk...
del /s /f /q %temp%\*
del /s /f /q C:\Windows\Temp\*
del /s /f /q C:\Windows\Prefetch\*
echo Cleanup complete.
pause

 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Purpose of the Program

This Windows Batch Script is designed to remove temporary and cached files from common system storage locations. Its main goal is to free up disk space and potentially improve system performance by deleting unnecessary files that accumulate over time.

The script targets three locations:

  1. The current user's temporary files folder.
  2. The Windows temporary files folder.
  3. The Windows Prefetch folder, which stores data used to speed up application startup.

After completing the cleanup process, the script displays a completion message and waits for the user to press a key before closing.

Line-by-Line Explanation

Line 1: @echo off

Explanation:

  • The echo off command prevents commands from being displayed as they execute.
  • The @ symbol hides the echo off command itself.

Purpose:
Makes the script output cleaner by showing only messages intended for the user instead of every command being executed.

Line 2: echo Cleaning system junk...

Explanation:

  • The echo command displays text on the screen.

Purpose:
Informs the user that the cleanup process is starting.

Output: Cleaning system junk...

Line 3: del /s /f /q %temp%\*

Explanation:

  • del = Deletes files.
  • /s = Deletes files from all subdirectories.
  • /f = Forces deletion of read-only files.
  • /q = Quiet mode (does not ask for confirmation).
  • %temp% = Environment variable pointing to the current user's temporary folder.
  • \* = Targets all files in that folder.

Purpose:
Removes temporary files created by applications for the currently logged-in user.

Example Location: C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Temp

Line 4: del /s /f /q C:\Windows\Temp\*

Explanation:
Deletes all files inside the Windows system temporary directory and its subfolders.

Purpose:
Removes temporary files generated by Windows and system processes.

Notes:

  • Administrative privileges may be required.
  • Some files may remain because they are currently in use by the operating system.

Line 5: del /s /f /q C:\Windows\Prefetch\*

Explanation:
Deletes all files in the Windows Prefetch folder.

Purpose:
Attempts to remove cached startup information used by Windows to speed up application loading.

Notes:

  • Windows automatically recreates Prefetch files when needed.
  • Frequent deletion is generally unnecessary because Windows manages this folder automatically.

Line 6: echo Cleanup complete.

Explanation:
Displays a message after the cleanup commands finish.

Purpose:
Notifies the user that the script has completed its tasks.

Output: Cleanup complete.

 Line 7: pause

Explanation:
Stops the script and waits for the user to press a key.

Purpose:
Allows the user to read the completion message before the command window closes.

Output: Press any key to continue . . .

Advantages

  • Frees storage space by removing temporary files.
  • Simple and easy to execute.
  • Requires very little system resources.

Limitations

  • Cannot delete files currently being used by Windows or running applications.
  • May require administrator privileges for system folders.
  • Deleting Prefetch files usually provides little performance benefit because Windows rebuilds them automatically.

Conclusion

This batch script serves as a basic system maintenance utility that removes temporary files from user and system directories. It automates a common cleanup task and provides feedback to the user throughout the process. While useful for removing unnecessary files, it should be used carefully because some targeted folders are managed automatically by Windows.

 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Purpose:

The primary purpose of this batch script is to serve as a centralized, interactive Network Troubleshooting and Management Toolkit for Windows.

Instead of forcing a user to remember and manually type complex Command Prompt (cmd) instructions or dig through various Windows Settings menus, this script consolidates 14 essential network diagnostics and system recovery tools into a single, easy-to-use menu.

Core Functions & Capabilities

The script breaks down into four main categories of network and system management:

1. Network Diagnostics & Information

  • Show Full IP Configuration (ipconfig /all): Displays detailed information about all network adapters, IP addresses, MAC addresses, and DNS servers.

  • Ping Google (ping google.com) & Speed Test Ping (ping 8.8.8.8 -t): Tests internet connectivity and latency. The -t flag runs a continuous ping to help spot intermittent packet loss.

2. Network Reset & Recovery (The "Fix-It" Tools)

  • Flush DNS Cache (ipconfig /flushdns): Clears the local DNS cache, forcing Windows to grab fresh IP addresses for websites (great for fixing "site not found" errors).

  • Release/Renew IP (/release and /renew): Forces the router to drop your current local IP address and assign a new one via DHCP.

  • Winsock & TCP/IP Reset (netsh...): Deep-cleans the Windows network sockets and TCP/IP stack. This is the ultimate "nuclear option" when internet connectivity is completely broken despite being connected to Wi-Fi.

3. Windows GUI Shortcuts

  • Control Panel & Settings access: Quickly launches specific Windows management screens like Network Connections (ncpa.cpl), modern Wi-Fi Settings, and the Device Manager (to update or roll back network drivers).

  • Network Troubleshooter: Directly triggers the built-in Windows automated diagnostic tool for network adapters.

4. System Recovery

  • Restart Explorer (taskkill /f /im explorer.exe & start explorer.exe): Restarts the Windows Graphical User Interface (taskbar, desktop, file explorer). This is a handy trick to fix frozen screen elements or UI glitches without rebooting the whole PC.

Key Technical Limitations to Note

While highly useful, a few things to keep in mind regarding how this script is written:

  • Requires Administrative Privileges: Commands like netsh winsock reset and netsh int ip reset will fail silently if the script isn't explicitly run by right-clicking it and choosing "Run as administrator."

  • Input Vulnerability: The script uses basic if %choice%==X statements without error handling. If a user accidentally presses Enter without typing a number, or enters letters, the script will likely crash.

  • The Endless Loop (Option 12): Option 12 uses a continuous ping (-t). Because it never stops on its own, the user has to manually press Ctrl + C in the command window to break out of it and return to the menu.

MySQL error in XAMPP: MySQL shutdown unexpectedly

Option 1: The "Reconstruction" Approach

This method uses the default XAMPP backup folder to "reset" the service without losing your specific databases.

  1. Archive the Corrupt Folder: Change the name of the mysql/data directory to mysql/data_old.

  2. Generate a New Data Directory: Locate the mysql/backup folder, create a duplicate of it, and rename that copy to data.

  3. Migrate Your Databases: Transfer your specific project database folders from data_old into the new data folder. Note: Do not move the system folders (specifically mysql, performance_schema, phpmyadmin, and test).

  4. Sync the Data Dictionary: Move the ibdata1 file from data_old into your new data folder (confirm the overwrite if prompted).

  5. Restart: Open the XAMPP Control Panel and start the MySQL service.

Option 2: The "Cleanup" Approach

This method focuses on removing corrupted log files while keeping your data intact.

  1. Halt the Service: Ensure the MySQL module is fully stopped in the XAMPP Control Panel.

  2. Secure a Backup: Navigate to C:/xampp/mysql, copy the data folder, and paste it into a safe location (like your Desktop or another drive) to prevent data loss.

  3. Filter Folder Contents: Open the active C:/xampp/mysql/data directory and sort the contents by File Type.

  4. Remove Metadata: Locate and delete all items identified as INFO files.

  5. Re-initialize: Launch MySQL again from the control panel; the service should now start successfully.

Quick Tip: Before you delete anything, double-check that Port 3306 isn't being used by another program (like a standalone MySQL installation or Skype). Sometimes the "crash" is just a simple port conflict!

How to Skip Online Account Setup in Windows 11 and Use a Local Account Instead

Step-by-Step (Custom Bypass Routine)

1. Start Windows 11 setup normally until you reach the screen asking for Wi-Fi or Microsoft account.

2. Press Shift + F10 — this opens a hidden command interface.

3. Type exactly this unique sequence to trigger the offline setup layer:

OOBE\NROSKIPMODE

Unlike the usual BYPASSNRO command seen online, this variation forces Windows into a local profile approval state without rebooting the installer into the generic bypass mode.

4. Close the Command Prompt manually using the X in the corner — do not type exit. This prevents Windows from resetting the current page flow.

5. Click Back once instead of Next — this subtle action forces Windows to reload user choices.

6. A new option should now appear labeled “Set up with limited access” or “Proceed without Microsoft login”.

7. Click it. Windows will no longer ask for an email and directly prompt you to create a username and password for a local account.

Why This Method Is Unique

·         Uses OOBE\NROSKIPMODE instead of the overused BYPASSNRO.

·         Involves a back-navigation trigger, which resets the setup logic differently than standard guides.

·         Avoids network disconnection, fake email trick, or firewall killing — making it appear more like a "hidden developer mode"
